Never Forget - The Forgotten War. 60th Anniversary of the Armistice Korean War

60 years ago today the armistice was signed and both sides agreed to a cease fire. I hope a peace treaty can finally be signed and the war can officially end. Here is a photo tribute to commemorate the anniversary. North Korea celebrates it as their "Victory Day". Hasn't anyone pointed out to them that the border is exactly where it was when the war started?

I Hate Glocks (but this is a Glock)

I recently watched a video on You Tube called "I Hate Glocks" and while I don't personally own a Glock (I own two M & P's and an XDm so I have no need for a Glock) I don't hate them. I don't care for the slide release but other than that, I have nothing against them.

While browsing I ran across this impressive video of a Glock fitted with a 100 round magazine, shooting on full automatic. How do you convert a Glock to full auto? Anyway, I was blown away by this video, I had know idea a Glock could do this...

Treated Myself to a New (used) Camera - Sony A35

I just purchased a new (used) camera on eBay. I sold my professional camera gear shortly after joining the army and had replaced my Nikon with an older model Sony A230 (10.2 mp) and was happy with the results given that I wasn't shooting professionally and I was primarily shooting for the web. However, I have had an itch to get back into shooting photos at a higher level and decided it was time. Being the frugal, cheap bastard that I am, I rarely buy anything new. The logic is that if you purchase used and purchase last generation, you can save a bundle of money yet still get a solid product. And that theory holds true, especially when it comes to things like digital cameras.

The Sony A35 is a generation old and has been replaced by the A58, however, with the exception of the tilt-able LCD screen, the two are virtually identical. By buying used on eBay you can save a pretty penny. For example: a brand new A58 sells for $549. I purchased my A35 for $299.

The A35 is an entry-level pro-sumer digital SLR but from my experience, you can hardly tell the difference in picture quality between a camera like the A35 and cameras costing 4 times as much. The A35 also shoots full HD videos. I already have a Sony HD handycam, however, the difference is in the lenses. The Sony handycam, although HD, will always look like a handheld camera shot the footage. But with the A35, you get more depth for a more cinematic look to your videos. I look forward to getting receiving it sometime in August and I'll be sure to post some photos and videos!

Let's Step Back in Time

I thought I'd add a new regular photo gallery feature on the blog by posting awesome historical military photographs. I think it's a good way to pay tribute to the sacrifices that were made and the hardships endured. Not to mention that these historic photographs are works of art. Look for future updates!

Rainy Days in Korea, Made Brighter By Girls with Guns

Monsoon season has begun here in the Republic of Korea. Without a doubt, I have never seen it rain this much in my entire life, not even in the great state of Washington. Monsoons bring monster rains. Like Forest Gump says "big fat rain". Only thing that could brighten my day are some girls with guns.
