A Unique (temporary) Tribute to Those Lost on D-Day
Raked into the sand, this extremely unique tribute to the fallen at the Normandy beaches was bold in that 9000 figures were raked into the sand and it only lasted a few hours as it was soon washed away by the tide.

USPatriotTactical.com Responds
UPDATE: 25 Sep. 2013. USPatriotTactical.com sent me a pre-paid return label. Now that's the way to take care of customers! Thank you!
A few days ago I made a post regarding my attempt to order a pair of boots from USPatriotTactical.com which did not go so well. I received the wrong color boots and also discovered that I was charged the regular price for the boots when, in fact, the boots were on sale.

I got an email response today stating that the boots were no longer in stock (they were when I placed the order) and that I would get a full refund. That's great, I thanked them for their quick reply and the refund, however, I still have to foot the bill to return the boots, a fact which I'm not entirely too thrilled about.
Not sure if I will order from them again or not.
Alpha Battery Soccer Game
My Battery has fielded a team for a unit level soccer league here at Camp Casey, they had their first game last night. I couldn't resist tagging along and bringing my cameras. I shot this with two cameras, one with a zoom lens (70-300mm) and one with a standard lens (24-105mm).
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Dear USPatriotTactical.com - Why is is so difficult to get a simple order right?
I recently ordered a paid of much needed Under Armor boots from USPatriotTactical.com on the advice of an army buddy whose sharp looking boots I had commented on. I went to the site and found this pair of Under Armor Valsetz boots on sale for $89.99...
Seemed like a good deal, they had my size in stock (9) so I placed the order. Here we are, ten days later, my feet and I have been anxiously awaiting my new boots. I was elated to see that I had a package waiting for me at the unit post office, I signed for the box and went back to my room anticipating the luxurious feel and comfort of my new boots. However, I was dismayed when I opened the box and found that the boots, although they were the correct size, were black in color, not desert tan as I had ordered. And no, I didn't mistakenly order black, I know I ordered tan. On top of that, I looked at the invoice and found that I was charged $109.99 not the listed sale price of $89.99. They appear to have a customer friendly return and exchange policy but now I have to pay for the return shipping. Bleh. I sent an email requesting an exchange for a similar pair because the style I ordered is now out of stock, if not, then a refund. I'll report back on how their customer service handles it. In the meantime, this soldiers feet remain sore and in need of a new pair of boots. It'll take 7-10 days to return this pair and another 7-10 days to get a replacement pair.
Too Awesome Not to Share - Joe Biden Shotgun Song
Enjoy this extremely creative and entertaining parody song of Joe Biden's shotgun interview with a little Rand Paul, John McCain, Edward Snowden, Bill O'Reilly and Megyn Kelly thrown in for good measure.

Legal Open Carry - Do the Police Know What the Laws Are? (Video)
I'm becoming more and more interested in the subject of open carry. I see video after video of people getting stopped by police for open carry in states where it is open carry is LEGAL.
Let's say for example, someone is seen openly carrying a side arm in public, walking down the street, this person is not seen making any threats or behaving strangely. It's understandable that someone else might think to call the police and say "Hey, there's a guy walking down the street with a pistol." Now here is where my curiosity about our police force gets the best of me. Shouldn't the police dispatcher or 911 operator then ask a few questions?
Is the person brandishing the firearm?
Is the person acting strangely or making threats?
Or is this person minding their own business just going about their way normally?
Shouldn't this be the reply?
"Thank you for calling the so and so police department, however, open carry of a firearm is legal in this state."
I understand the concern for public safety, so perhaps an officer getting a call on a person open carrying should be to observe first, then, if the person is acting suspicious or otherwise behaving in a way to cause concern, sure, go and ask a few questions.
If it's legal to open carry in that particular state, why then are the police dispatched in the first place? It seems to me that the police are unaware of the laws and what the rights of the citizen are.

My Battery Goes on a Run, I Grab My Camera
My Battery went on a motivational run leading into the 3 day Choesuk holiday weekend. I instinctively reached for my camera and threw a short video together for posterity. It's an outstanding Battery with superb leadership, I'm proud to be a part of it!
Enjoy the video.
Enjoy the video.

Over and Under
I'm not sure what model of shot gun this photo shows but boy is it ever gorgeous!
Very much looking forward to getting back to the states and doing some shooting. Looks like I'll be back in the spring of 2015. Tops on my list is to purchase an Over and Under shotgun for trap and skeet shooting. I bought a couple of cases of target load and I want to put those rounds down range. I've been looking at the CZ Canvasback 12 ga. with a 26 inch barrel. I prefer a shorter barrel.
Photo Tribute to the B17 Flying Fortress
As a kid I was in awe of the B17, still am. There's something romantic about the legendary Flying Fortress that captures the imagination. Ran across a few impressive photos of the B17 and just wanted to share.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
And a B25 for good measure, also a beautiful bomber and quite legendary in it's own right.

Nice but Staged
As far as composition and quality is concerned, this is a decent photograph, however, I'm not quite sure exactly what story the photo is trying to tell. It's poorly staged.
What's going on? I see poker chips mixed with bullets, have the players run out of chips and are instead betting with bullets? Dumb. What card game are they playing anyway? Notice the barrel of each pistol is pointed where the player might be sitting. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
What is it with poker, alcohol and guns photos? Here is another photo, taken by a different photographer...
I like this one a little better, but still, not realistic enough, too staged!

Impressive Web Site for Ammo
It's a rare occasion when I run across an impressive and clean web site design in the firearms and ammunition business. Not sure why, but most sites are just thrown together, looking like they were made by someones friend who says they know how to build a web page. AmmoforSale.com is not one of those sites.
Mark from AmmoforSale.com emailed me yesterday to let me know I had a broken link in my "Favorite Links" tool bar and he politely asked for a link trade as well. After looking at his online ammo store, I didn't hesitate to move his link right to the top of my list!
Ammoforsale.com is impressive to say the least. The design is pleasing to the eye, clean and simple, the colors are coordinated well and the shopping cart system is well organized and easy to navigate.
I highly recommend you check them out. I look forward to doing some shopping there myself.
