The Springfield 1911-A1 was my very first 1911, I don't think I could have made a better choice for my very first 1911 in this price range. I think I paid 800-850. I like it's clean, classic all-stainless steel look. I love the color of the grips too.
As for shooting, it's among the most accurate pistols in my entire collection. More often than not, it is chosen as the favorite among friends I take out shooting. The .45 caliber is surprisingly easy to control, due in part to the heft of the pistol itself.
It feels perfect in my hand and it's a pleasure to shoot!
