MyGunDiary.com Rapidly Approaching 30,000 page views!

A big thank you to all of you loyal readers out there as MyGunDiary.com rapidly approaches 30,000 page views. Not bad for a gun blog started out of a temporary housing unit (CHU) at Camp Beuhring, Kuwait eh?

Meanwhile, our YouTube videos are approaching 10,000 views!

It's a pleasure to share with you all my enjoyment of firearms collecting and shooting, not to mention all the girls with guns!

As time goes on I hope to be able to dedicate more time to the blog, for now, it's still a part time gig.

I have been working on a new web site design however, I'm still debating exactly what direction I want to take the design. I was leaning towards a splash page, but that would have required a click through to reach the blog posts. I've pretty much made up my mind just to customize the main blog template itself. So stay tuned, probably another month for the new design.

Thanks again and by all means, continue to come back and support my firearms blog. And please, BUY A T-SHIRT!

Assault weapon ban dropped from senate bill? Let the celebration begin!

http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/19/17373761-assault-weapons-ban-dropped-from-senate-bill?lite

Now let's see how this affects gun and ammunition prices. Either way, this is not only good news but the right thing to do.

Cheaper than dirt?

37.99 for twenty rounds of .223! When will prices come down? Cripes. Looks like I'm headed to Korea at the right time. Maybe prices will be reasonable by the time I get back in 2015.

SPC (Major) Payne Shares Deployment Photos Featuring Our Master Girls with Guns Photo Curator, SPC. Harrington!

I recently pulled a 24 hour duty shift with a SPC. Payne, who as it turns out, is also an avid gun enthusiast, which was a good thing because it gave us plenty in common to talk about all night, which is a good thing when 3am rolls around. Ends up he deployed to the middle east with our resident Girls with Guns master photo curator, none other than SPC. Harrington, and was kind enough to share a batch of photos from their deployment to Kazakhstan and Jordan (is greatest country in the world, number one exporter of potassium).

You'll get a good look at the fully automatic AK47's, a few 240B 7.62x51 machine guns and M4 carbines. He also included a few photos of his own gun collection.

Thanks for sharing SPC. Payne! Keep the gun photos coming.

Ah yes, classic Harrington.

Maverick 88 Shotgun

I have been in the market lately for a shotgun that would be good for hunting, shooting skeet, or trap that could also be used for home defense as well.  After shopping around for a while I was beginning to think that I wasn't going to be able to find one the I would be able to do both with, without breaking the bank.

On a trip down to the local Wal-Mart to pick up some shotgun shells for my friend's new Mossberg 500 pump he had bought with wood furniture I come across this sweet looking Maverick 88.  I asked the clerk if I could look at it and what the price was and just as she is handing it to me and I am starting to fall in love with it she tells me $189.00.  Without hesitation I say I'll take it.  I am looking forward to shooting it within the next couple of weeks. I will post videos at a later date along with the 2 Ishvek 91/30s I recently purchased.

On another note one thing I have to say is how surprised I was when I removed the 28" barrel and found that the Mossberg's 18.5" barrel mounted up to my platform with no problems at all.  After a little research I found the shorter barrel which is meant for home defense online at http://www.maverickarms.com/pages/barrels.html for only $80 and some change.   Two shotguns for the price of one.  You gotta love it when things work out so well. Here are some pictures I took earlier today with the 2 different barrels installed.

A Good Read

Republican Women Standing Up for 2nd Amendment at CPAC - US News & World Report

Video - My Russian Firearms Arsenal

In what might be my last video upload before I head off to Korea, I share with you my entire Russian firearms arsenal with a one-by-one detailed description and brief history of each gun.

The 91/30 was the first surplus rifle that I collected, and what a monster it created!

Enjoy the video.

Special thanks to Matthew Garver of Venti Productions for the camera work!

ClassicFirearms.com has a Great Deal on M44s! Don't wait!

ClassicFirearms.com has a great deal going on Mosin Nagant M44's. Priced at only $229 (as low as $209 if you buy at least 12) these are sure to go fast. They also HAD hex receiver 91/30s priced at $149, but they sold out in just a few days.

I don't mind sharing the info on this deal because I already placed my order, ha!

I haven't seen retail prices this low in a long, long time. I highly recommend this deal.

They also have 7.62x54r ammo available but expect to add shipping cost on that.
